An SUV created to further increase its reputation in a popular class
The 2019 Honda Passport boasts two-row, five-person seating in a spacious offering for any consumer. Myriad models offer more features and upgrades than the previous models, starting with the Sport model and ending at the Elite.
Each model possesses a V6 engine with 280 horsepower. All models also contain an eco-assist system, variable cylinder management, active noise cancellation, hill-start assist and remote engine start. There are eight standard vehicle colors, ranging from white diamond pearl to obsidian blue pearl. The Passport will get you 19 miles in the city, or 24 miles on the highway, on one gallon of gas.
The Passport has drawn a lot of praise from experts
When it comes to athletic styling and versatility, this new Honda offering is turning heads — especially at Holmes Honda.
It’s a family vehicle that assures safety and comfort, along with help in the form of all-wheel drive that responds to traction at each wheel — which prevents slippage and increases handling on dirt or in wet conditions.
U.S. News & World Report ranked the vehicle No. 1 in its list of midsize SUVs, giving it a score of 8.8 out of 10. They also rank the Passport as No. 1 in the category of two-row SUVs, as well as No. 1 in the crossover category. The publication said “ample engine power” is accompanied by a spacious interior and “handsome” cabin.
The Passport possesses a shorter length than the Pilot, but it still contains numerous storage bins and sufficient cargo space. Rear seats even have the ability to recline and slide for extra leg room. “It’s a diaper bag with ground clearance,” said Mototrend Features Editor Scott Evans. “It has a feature of some kind for everything you can think of.”
Car and Driver said the Passport is quite formidable in its class, surpassing competitors like the Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe and Nissan Murano. The car may surprise some people, they said, due to its 3.5-liter engine and ability to hit 0-60 MPH in just 5.8 seconds.
Other welcome specifications include a nine-speed automatic transmission and the ability to tow 5,000 pounds. The interior includes 41 cubic feet of storage, or 78 cubic feet of room when seats are folded. All models have driver-assistance features like automated emergency braking, forward-collision warning and lane departure warning.
“The ride is comfortable and the steering is pleasingly direct, all of which give the Passport a nimble, agile feeling from behind the wheel,” Car and Driver said.
